About

A key man who is
an auto electrician first

Smart Car Keys is run by John, a time served auto electrician working across Newcastle upon Tyne. Every job is done by the same pair of hands.

The background

Twenty years of vehicle electrics

Most of a car key job is electrical. The cutting is the visible half, but what decides whether the engine starts is the immobiliser, the aerial ring, the wiring and the coding behind it. Coming at keys from an auto electrical background means a vehicle that will not start gets diagnosed rather than guessed at.

Apprentice trained and City & Guilds qualified, with over twenty years spent on fault finding, wiring, diagnostics and vehicle coding.

One person, one van, one set of equipment. The person who answers the phone is the person who turns up and does the work.

How it is run

Straight answers, booked appointments

Appointments only

Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, booked in advance rather than run as a 24 hour callout. It means the correct key and software are already on board when we arrive.

DBS checked and insured

Checked and fully insured, which matters when the work happens at your home rather than at a counter.

No overselling

If the fob only needs pairing again you will be told that, and if a vehicle cannot be done you will be told that too.

One person, start to finish

The person who takes the call is the person who does the job.

Limits

What is not covered

Vehicle entry and lockouts are not part of the service. Neither is emergency out of hours work, and motorcycle keys are not covered.

Where every key to a vehicle has been lost, whether the job can be done on site depends on the make and model, so that conversation happens before anything is booked.
